As this will be the second holiday season without my dad, I can totally comprehend the amount of sadness that comes with losing someone close to you. Many times, instead of being the happiest season, the holiday’s can prove to be the loneliest for those that have recently lost a loved one.
If you find yourself heart broken for what ever reason remember that loneliness and grief is natural, so don’t avoid those feelings. But in the midst of feeling your feelings understand that you are going through a season in life and this too shall pass. Try not to remain in a state of sadness or self-pity if you can help it by getting out of the house and being with friends and family.

When you find yourself in a state of loneliness this season (or beyond) take out these bible verses and affirmations to repeat to yourself:
1. I cast all my anxieties on the Lord, because he cares for me
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7)
2. God will not leave me alone, he will come to me
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you (John 14:18)
3. I believe that God will heal my broken heart and wounds
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3)
4. I will trust in God at all times for he is my refuge
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us (Psalm 62:8)
___5. My hope is set on God and I show this through continuous prayer and supplication
She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day (1 Timothy 5:5)
6. God has good plans for me, anything that has occurred in my life is for my good
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11)
7. The Lord is near to me and will save me
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18)
8. I do not rely on my flesh but know that God is my strength
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever (Psalm 73:26)
9. No matter what things look like, I will have faith in God’s word
For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)
10. I will trust the word of God and give my burdens to the Lord
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)
Here’s to having a wonderful holiday season and beyond!
God Bless,
Court
